Tucson General Overview
Tucson is not only a great city for doing business, it's also a great place to live. In fact, one of the reasons it's a great city for business is its quality of life. In addition to the extensive transportation and telecommunications infrastructures, businesses and individuals are attracted here by the pleasant climate, world-class shopping and dining and the incomparable recreation and cultural opportunities. And once these people are here, the vast majority of them never want to leave.

Tucson is nick named the Old Pueblo and is Aizona's oldest city with a blend of Mexican, Spanish and Anglo heritages. It is the second largest city in the State with high-tech industies, top rated cultural events and the charm of the desert frontier. Tucson was founded in 1775 and became part of the US in 1854. Tucson was incorporated in 1877 and is the Pima county seat.

Townships Surrounding Tucson
Flowing Wells, South Tucson, Valencia West, Esmond, Littletown, Emery Park, Tucson Estates, Green Valley, Oro Valley.

The Catalina Foothills, ie North and parts of North West Tucson, are lovely and it is possible to buy a condo there at Ventana Canyon for $89,000, and in valley of Sabino Mountain, single family brand new homes are priced around $200,000 and up. At the top of Sabino Mountain, where the views are fantastic, you are talking about $350,000 for the lot, and a minimium of $400,000 for the construction of a home.

Oro Valley is a special to visit, and it is even better as a place to live or work.

The lush and green Sonoran Desert is a wilderness with high mountains, quiet valleys and cool canyons and a great selection of plants and wildlife.

The high desert area is comfortable and you can relaxed in the secluded foothill or desert areas. There are excellent schools near the family neighborhoods and up market retirement communities. The Oro Valley has been rated as one of the safest places to live in Arizona.

Green Valley with its five public and three private golf courses is just twenty minutes to the south of Tucson. There are beautiful homes in this area, from two bedroom villa's for $35 to $60,000 to larger, free standing residences for $150,000 to $200,000 for 2,000-2,500 sq ft.

Tucson Climate and Weather
Located at 2,389 feet, Tucson is known for mild winters and is just beautiful year round..low humidity, not too many problems for allergy suffers and lots of sun. Surprisingly enough, there is snow on Mount Lemon in the winter, so ski-ing is possible at this high altitude.

Tucson Attractions

Several of Tucson's popular attractions are within a few miles of each other.West of the city is the world-famous Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, named one of America's 10 best zoos by Parade magazine. The New York Times called it "the most distinctive zoo in the United States." This "living" museum features hundreds of animals and plants unique to the Sonoran Desert.

Just down the road is Old Tucson Studios, the famous movie location and Western theme park where visitors can watch the filming of movies and television shows, ride a stagecoach or mine train, and witness a gunfight.

Both attractions are next to the Saguaro National Park West. The saguaro cactus, native to the Sonoran Desert, is found in abundance. Hundreds of thousands of the majestic plants, true symbols of the Southwest, stand like silent sentinels in the Tucson Mountains.

The International Wildlife Museum features exhibits and dioramas of nearly 300 species of mammals and birds from around the world, as well as tours, videos, films, souvenirs and exotic foods. This education-oriented family attraction realistically displays animals from six continents in their natural habitats, while promoting wildlife appreciation and conservation.

Just nine miles southeast of Tucson, Mission San Xavier del Bac is one of the finest examples of Spanish mission architecture. Founded by the Jesuits in the late 1600s and later revitalized by the Franciscans in the 1780s, the mission watches over the San Xavier District of the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation. Known as the "White Dove of the Desert," the mission has been acclaimed as the "Sistine Chapel of North America" for the astonishing amount of artwork revealed during a recent international restoration effort.
