Major employers include the University of Arizona, Stratford Group, and Krebs Petroleum Technologies.

Manufacturing plays a large role as an employment sector, and has doubled in the last 10 years. The growth is due to high tech companies such as Hughes Missile Company, AiResearch (Tucson Division), Sargent Controls, Opto Power and Burr Brown.
